My office closed and Craig didn't have to go in either, so we have been sledding and playing in the snow for about 2 hours now!

Ok guys, I know I have been VERY bad at posting lately, well actually, I believe it's been over a year since I posted, so does that tell you how BUSY we have been. So I promise, I am going to try to do better this year.

I attempted to take the boys downtown the other day to get some new pics of them, notice I said attempted! My boys seem to be my only photography challenge.

However I did manage to get a few great ones......thankfully!

For Riley's birthday we bought a trampoline, yes I have heard all the bad stories. So far, no injuries, so what do we do......yeap that's right.....we bought the boys a MOTORCYCLE!!!! Why not, right? Craig always says, "We're raising boys around here". Hayden has talked about a motorcycle for almost a year now. Of course we have taken into consideration all the safety procedures, helmets, training wheels and throttle control. We surprised the boys and came home with it in the back of Craig's truck, they were totally shocked!!!! They just couldn't wait to hop on. So Craig rode them up and down Mom and Dad's driveway till he could get the training wheels put on. Yes, Craig can ride this thing, he looks really funny, but it flys!

But this is what happens when you crash a motorcycle only wearing your underwear!!!! It got that excited! All I can say is that I am glad that I have a lot of nurse friends at Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic!

Hayden's First Day of Preschool

Hayden always wants to do what Riley does, so of course, he wanted to go to school too. Hayden was accepted into the His Kids program at Morrison Hill Christian Church. Riley attended last year and we LOVE it. Hayden was very comfortable with his surrounding so I wasn't as concerned when I left him. He turned to me and said "Bye I love you Momma, see you later" and turned around like it was nothing. As soon as I sat down in the van, I lost it. That is when it all hit me, both my babies are in school. Neither one of them looked back when I dropped them off. They are getting so big. On to the point, Hayden loved school and has talked about it since I picked him up. Well, Riley and Hayden both passed out within 5 minutes of me picking them up. They were wore out, plus they don't like getting up at 6:45, neither do I!

Well, I have been excited, nervous and an emotional basket case over this day! Yes, I am one of those Mom's doesn't want this day to come, but on the other hand I couldn't wait for him to start his school years. He did great and has done nothing but talk about school starting. I actually made it without shedding one tear!!!!! Riley has Ms. Burgess, which was thrilled to hear, and he loves her! So here are some snapshots of his morning!

We just returned from another great get-a-way to Charleston, which is one of my favorite places! The boys both are major water doggies! Hayden loved the water and sand this year, well maybe he just likes the sand, it still gets on his nerves. We spent everyday on the beach and best of all we watch the fireworks over the ocean....it was beautiful!

So today we celebrated Riley's birthday and Father's Day with one big party. We started around 3 and wrapped up about midnight! When the boys first arrived they were surprise with Riley's present...the trampoline! Needless to say, they were surprised. I know that we had a day full of fun with all the water toys, trampoline and lots of adult fun. Riley received LOTS of cool present! I want to thank everybody who came out and made Riley's day so special.

Well can you believe it because I can't but 5 years ago today, my life changed, in ways that words would can never describe. I have always wanted kids but once I was pregnant, it made me feels those special feelings. Everytime I would feel him roll or kick, which he done ALL the time. It made my heart grow deeper with love, then he was born. Like I said, we experience feeling and a love we could have never imagine or forget. Before I knew it he was crawling, then walking and now getting prepared to start Kindergarten! These short 5 years seem like it only has been a year at the max. Ok, before I make myself cry even more....look at how much he has changed!

Last night we celebrated our last game and had closing ceremony. The boys have LOVED playing ball so much this season. Hayden has improved so much since the first game, well he will actually go to the field and play now. Riley just keeps on getting better too. Last night we took the boys to see Bob the Builder Live at the Tennessee Theater. We bought the tickets a few months back, after Riley found it on the internet! That's my lil computer/internet guy! The boys had a blast. The only bad part was that we got front row tickets, when I ordered them I didn't know that they were front tow, I just took what the computer generated for me. Yes, I am saying that front row seat were bad, the stage was barely at my eye level, which means the boys had to sit on our laps to see!

Riley's Kindergarten Orientation

Riley attended his Kindergarten Orientation yesterday and today! He is so excited about starting school, atleast he is because I'm NOT! Today, we came to school about 15 minutes early and he took me on a tour of the school, by himself! He was totally excited about getting to eat lunch in the school cafeteria. Yes, he was excited, this is one thing that worries me so much about him going to school, he is such a picky eater. He found out that Mrs. Burgess will be his Kindergarten teacher, which tickles me to death! Just for those of you wondering, I made it through this very well, no TEARS!!!!! YAY for me!

Well, this just proves that he is growing up on me. Last night we attended Riley's graduation ceremony. All the kids participated in a play and then the children that will be leaving to start Kindergarten next year received their certificate. Hayden sudden feel ill with a stomach virus about noon yesterday, so I planned on him staying at home with Sissy. Well, he refused, he demanded that he go to Riley's graduation. So he won, he sleep thru 90% of it!

As most of you know, Craig and I have a co-ed softball team and play every week in Knoxville. Anytime you come to our games, you will find a dugout full of kids. It's almost like a daycare in there! Well last night, like all other softball nights, our kids got dirty from head to toe! They all have so much fun and we enjoy watching them as much as we do playing.

The boys have always wanted to be like Daddy, but Hayden is really going to extremes lately. This morning Craig was unloading some mulch before he went to work. As soon as Hayden realized that Dad was outside working, he wanted to go, so I dressed him and sent him out the door. Hayden immediately came back in and told me that he wanted his red shirt and tennis shoes on. I really didn't think much about the statement because lately he has been really picky about what he wears. So I went to his closets and found him a red shirt that he immediately approved. So we changed his shirt and shoes and was walking through the kitchen when he told me that he wanted his coffee. So I got one of Craig's coffee cups and put some orange juice in it. As soon as I opened the door, it hit me like a ton of brick. Hayden wanted his red shirt and tennis shoes on cause Daddy was wearing a red shirt and tennis shoes.

I want to take the time to wish all you Mom's a Happy Mother's Day. Especially the two special women in our lives, my Mom and Craig's Mom. We love you both very much and appreciate all that you do for us! Clara, we wish that we lived closer to you guys, that way we could spend lots more quality time with you. Mom, on the other hand has to deal with us on a daily basis, whether that is a good thing or a bad thing, that is your decision Mom...LOL!

I had another wonderful Mother's Day. Craig and the boys treat me so well all the other days of the years, it's really hard for them to top it. But Craig never fails and make every holiday a memorable one! I am truly a blessed woman! I love my 3 guys SO much! How did I every manage to be so lucky?

This morning we played our first game in the rain. Well actually, we missed the rain, it was really just drizzling. The coaches decided that the infield was too muddy to play so we made our own infield in the outfield. We used parents/coaches as the bases. The kids had fun and still got to play ball.

We headed to Chattanooga yesterday to see Thomas the Train. This is the second year that we have taken the boys, and they loved it even more this year. Especially Hayden, maybe because he is older. I was scared that it was going to rain on us, but luckily the rain held off until the actually train ride and was over by the time we got off.

Kindergarten here we come...

So today I tool Riley for his Kindergarten physical and to pre-register for Kindergarten. First off, I can't believe that he is old enough to even think about school. So we started the morning off at the Children's Clinic for our check-up. Which went very well, until the nurse mentioned "shots". Then it was all down hill from there. Riley is terrified of shot, needles, blood or anything related to that. Immediately he started freakin' out...I mean crying, yelling, shaking, breathing heavily and the Nurse hadn't even made it back to the room with the shots. He just wanted me to hold him, and keep on say...."LET'S GET OUTTA HERE" and the funniest things was when he looked at me and told me that this was the worse day of his life! I just started laughing, which just made it worse. Finally the nurse came in with her tray, and it got a thousand times worse. But we made it through all 4 vaccines and believe it or not, he lived through them, with a really sore arm.

After we collected all our documentation and stickers we headed to Knoxville. Riley got to go buy him a new toy and got to choose where to eat lunch. Plus, Momma had to do a little bit of shopping.

Riley was really excited about going to school, especially now the Dr's visit was over. We went in and Riley did amazingly well on his assessment test. The teacher was bragging on how much he knew compared to the other children, when Riley looked up at me and said "Momma, did they think I was dumb". I explained to him what she was talking about.

I actually handled things really well today, which I tried to prepare myself for. The real test is how I will handle his actual first day....we'll find out in August!

Tonight we played in Rockwood. Which is actually a lot further away than you think. It was out night to bring snacks, so Hayden and i made homemade sugar cookies with buttercream icing and chocolate chip cookies. Needless to say, we didn't make it back home with any.

I know that I have been a HUGE camera slacker these days, but I finally remembered to take my camera bag with everything else to soccer tonight! I am actually starting to learn a lot about soccer, mainly because Levi is teaching Craig and I. Riley is starting to get the hang of the game too! We have 5 kids on our team this year, including Riley! The team gets SOOO excited when we score a goal, even though we don't keep score. All the kids are so good!

In Loving Memory of Brandon Hurley

This past week was one of the hardest weeks of my life. Craig received that breath taking, heart stopping phone call on Tuesday morning. When he called me I was just stunned, speechless and every other emotion you can think of. He told me that Brandon had been in a serious car wreck on Monday night and he was life support. I turned around and walked out of Wal-Mart like a zombie. I rushed home and literally started throwing clothes in bag, and hoped that we packed everything we needed. Then we got the phone call......Death is NEVER easy to deal with, but when you lose such a young soul....it makes it SO much worse. Any unexpected death is hard, no matter the age. But to loss your life at 17 years old, look at the many things he never experienced. I know it was the Lord's plans and Brandon is in a better place now. Brandon is watching over all of us now!

I want to thank everyone who kept our family and all his close friends in your thoughts and prayers, but please continue to keep praying.

BRANDON RYAN HURLEY, 17 years of age of Hurley, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born October 1, 1991, in Tazewell County, Virginia, he was the son of Edgar Bill and Clara Allen Hurley. He attended the Union Light Freewill Baptist Church, Paw Paw, Kentucky and also the Lords Prayer Church, Phelps, Kentucky. He was an 11^th grade student at the Hurley High School, enjoyed playing music and restoring automobiles.

He is also survived by 1- Sister: Sandra Kay Spurlock, Vernon, Florida, 4-Brothers: Austin Tyler Hurley, Of the Home, Kermit Hurley, Hurley, Virginia, Craig and wife Hollie Hurley, Harriman, Tennessee, Dennis and wife Tammy Hurley, Hurley, Virginia, Cousins: Riley & Hayden Hurley, Harriman, Tennessee, Joshua, Jonathan and Karissa Hurley, Hurley, Virginia

Also, survived by several aunts and uncles and his girlfriend, Christine Blankenship, Stopover, Kentucky.

Funeral Services for BRANDON RYAN HURLEY, will be conducted Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Union Light Freewill Baptist Church, Paw Paw, Kentucky with Reverands: William Prater and Joe Jackson officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Virginia.

Friends may call at the Union Light Freewill Baptist Church Thursday evening at 4:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M. Thursday and Friday evenings.

Active Pallbearers will be Cody Estep, Ricky Baker, Travis Light, Travis Matney, Travis Hensley, Justin Vandyke, Justin Hurley, Heath Justus and Mark Blackburn.

Honorary Pallbearers will be 2009 Junior Class of Hurley High School.

Happy Easter!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter holiday! I am sorry that I only have a few pictures to post. Our Easter was celebrated a little different this year. We spent the morning and early afternoon in Virginia then drove home. We did make a pit stop in Morristown to visit our good friends, Ron, Pam and girls. They invited us to stop and eat with them, so we can't turn down good food. Plus it made a wonderful resting point. Thanks Ron and Pam for inviting us! (Ron made some killer ribs!)

Since we got home early Monday morning or late Sunday night, 1:30 a.m. The boys were passed out and they didn't even realize the Easter bunny had left their baskets on the fireplace! As soon as I woke Hayden up, he asked me "Did the Easter bunny find us Momma!". He was afraid since we were in VA that the Easter bunny wouldn't find them to leave their baskets. So Craig explained to them that he would leave them at our house.

Can't you tell how sleepy they were. I had an early appt so these pics where taken about 7:30 this morning!

Well we had opening ceremonies this morning and our first game this afternoon! Hayden has been all excited about playing this year until our first practice. He refuses to even go on the field. He dresses completely out and gets his bag packed but when we get to the field he refuses. So no pressure, he will decide when he wants to start. I just tell Craig, he is still so young to actually play. I love to watch all the kids play at this age....it just makes me laugh! Craig is so excited this year, because he is the Asst Coach. We have both anticipated the day that our kids start playing, well it's here. We may have an extremely hectic schedule now, but I wouldn't trade it for the world! I had so many pics of all the time, so enjoy the slideshow!

I am really really behind on posting. Just to say the least, I have been very busy with the kids, my NEW photography stuff and with my real job, oh we can't forget about me doing hair either.

So much stuff has went on here my last post. Craig's grandmother passed away, so we made and urgent trip to Virginia. Thanks to everyone who sent there prays our way.

Then we have my busy schedule at the shop, which isn't slowing down due to the economy. I am now working 4 days a week. They are more than 8 hour days too. But I love what I do and my goal is to make my clients HAPPY!

Plus, I have been doing a lot with my photography. I took 2 more classes at UT this semester, thank god I'm on spring break this week. Shara and I traveled to Nashville last week for a GREAT seminar. Plus, I have another seminar scheduled next Tuesday in Nashville. So that being said. I have changed my business name to L'amore E'bello photography. I have worked really hard on all my new stuff. Then we have had two of Sonya's bridal showers. Skyler turned 2 on March 6...gosh where does time go! Kristin, Tiffany and I went to the Jason Aldean concert, which rocked but was surprising short. Kristin and also attended the Whitestone Bridal Show. So needless to say, I have barely had time to breath.

Wait, I forgot......remember last year when I officially became a soccer mom and baseball mom. Well this year, I am a Soccer Mom, Soccer Coach's wife, Baseball Mom to both boys, and Baseball Coach's wife. We can't forget that Craig and I are still playing softball ourselves. So I have a feeling that this summer is going to fly by!

I promise I will try to update our blog with some pictures soon. I will actually go back and put them in date order.

Hayden's Birthday Party!

Well, I still can't believe that my baby is 3, but on to better things. Sunday we celebrated Hayden's b-day with a Blue's Clue's party. We had another huge turnout....thank goodness it was warm weather outside, that way we all had room to move around. Craig made potato soup, chili, potato skins, chicken tenders, hot dogs and chips. Hayden decided that he wanted a Blue's Clues party which really surprised me because he isn't really into Blue's Clues. After we all stuffed our face Hayden opened ALL his presents, cause he didn't want to wait till after cake.
He had a Blue's Clues cake with chocolate and vanilla ice cream.

The only problem was that when we all started singing "Happy Birthday" he got embarrassed and climbed out of the chair and ran to his bedroom. I went in to get him and this is what I found. Poor guy was so tired!
The kids, including Big Kids, enjoyed roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. Emma was our guest singer with her guitar!

I want to thank everybody who came out to celebrate Hayden's b-day! I love all our friends, and I am so glad that we all so close....it make even kids parties fun for us all! I was sent this video from a very close friend of our who has been affected by this Mudslide. Even thought it hasn't "directly" effected us...it has impacted our life on a daily routine. We hear the helicopter flying over at all hours of the night. We have to take a different route to go to Kingston now. We are faced with the scare of what this is going to do to us health wise. Keep in mind that we are also faced with the fact that we grow crops on our farm, yes 97 acres of farming, that is in danger of not being grown because of the liability our "Bean Company" may not want to encounter in the future. So what are we left to do with our farm......something we would not have had to think about if it wasn't for TVA. The most important fact that upsets me is that Swan Pond, which I was born, raised and lived all my life...will NEVER be the same again. All the beautiful landmark are gone and can't be replace or rebuild.

TVA coal ash disaster on December 22, 2008. A TVA coal ash containment "pond" collapsed in Harriman, TN spilling a reported 1 BILLION gallons of toxic waste into an unsuspecting residential neighborhood. This is the largest toxic coal ash spill in United States history.

My parents, my sister, friends and family, they've all been devasted.

I made this video for my parents, their neighbors and their attorney to show what life was like on the river before the TVA disaster and after. What was once a beautiful oasis is now a disgusting toxic ashtray.

I emailed the video to my parents on Monday night. Then, I went upstairs to watch a little tv and went to bed. By the time I woke the next morning, the video I had e-mailed to my parents had been viewed over 700 times. I had 84 e-mails in my inbox and a message from Erin Brockovich.

That's the power of the internet, baby.

What I read and hear from TVA officials is discouraging. The aftermath of this disaster is significant and long-reaching. It's apparent that some of the folks at TVA just don't 'get it.'

The water is not "okay" and the disaster wasn't just "bad luck" and, no, the EPA is not getting readings of high arsenic levels due to the measurements they use. In fact, the EPA is getting readings of high arsenic levels because there's arsenic. At high levels. In the water.

The people of this community need solutions, not rhetoric. They need action, not action plans with no deadline. And, obviously, TVA needs oversight, not deference.

Well, the time has finally came for Momma and Daddy to let go of those blonde curls. Not by choice, but the fact is that Riley has finally lost most of his curls. Plus, he keeps on cutting his hair.

Christmas 2008

Well, I finally have the time to sit down and post some Christmas pictures. Sorry it has taken so long, I know that you guys have been asking me about them. So here they are.

We all have another wonderful Christmas. I must admit, we actually tried to reduce what we bought the boys since they get SO much from everybody, but it's a lot easier said than done. We started our holiday with our traditional Christmas Eve at Mom & Dad's.

Then we made is home about midnight to get ready for our family traditions on Christmas morning. The milk and cookies that they boys left for Santa.

It appears that these two little boys were very good this year, wouldn't you say so!

They were so excited....It was so funny because Riley looked at Craig and said..."Dad, he really did come, didn't he!" He told us that for days, I guess he may have been worried that he was on the naughty list...hehe!

After the boys opened all their presents from us, then Craig and I opened our presents. Once again I was spoiled, I got a new Wii, Northface jacket and two new pairs of Nike's, along with several gifts. Craig then prepared us a wonderfully yummy breakfast. The boys were so excited about their new riding toys, they just couldn't wait to get outside to ride them. So we got dressed and let them ride. They rode until the batteries died. While we waited on Mom to finish the massive feast she was preparing, we tested out the Wii. So after we stuffed ourselves, we went home and was lazy the rest of the day.

Friday morning we got up and headed to Virginia for our Christmas with the Hurley's. The boy did really well for most of the trip. We made it home just in time for Christmas dinner. Once we finished eating we opened presents. The boys were in such a hurry to open presents, I didn't get a chance to get the camera out.

We all enjoyed our weekend of relaxation. We headed back home Sunday night.

The boys got soooo many presents, that everyday is like Christmas all over again. They will find a toy still unopened and get all excited.

I must admit this has been the best Christmas yet. Both boys enjoyed it so much. They are actually at a perfect age, last year Hayden was just really overwhelmed with everything, but this year he actually understood Santa and all the presents. I know that it will get better every year.

Happy Anniversary Shara & Jason!

One year ago today, I watched my closest and best friend, Shara exchange vows with her sweet husband, Jason. So today she is celebrating her First Wedding Anniversary, which is something every couple looks forward to. The only problem is that Jason, who is serving in the United States Army, is deployed. This has been a very hard and trying time for Shara. Just in the year they have been married, they have lived in El Paso, Texas, moved back to Tennessee for a small time then Jason got shipped to Germany, where they thought they would be stationed together. So Jason left and started all his settlement time, before Shara was sent her orders to go over, Jason was deployed. So today, I will keep her busy trying to keep her mind off things. We have a day of shopping, chatting and of course I'll take her out for her wedding anniversary dinner at her favorite restaurant.

I just want to wish them both a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Shara, I love you and will try my best to make your first anniversary the best ever! Remember that Jason loves you with all his heart, and would do anything for you. If he was here he would pamper you will flowers, candy and all those other small surprises!

We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! Like most other families, we start crazy mode tonight. We have Christmas at my Mom & Dad's tonight, then we wake up with Santa presents and celebrate on Christmas morning. Then we will have a HUGE Christmas dinner at Mom & Dad's on Christmas Day. On Friday morning we will be leaving for the weekend for Christmas with the Hurley's.

I wanted to go ahead and post this before things got tooo hectic. I am actually sitting here while giving Riley's his breathing treatment. I had to take him to the Dr yesterday evening because he has this nasty barking cough. Well, to my surprise when Dr. Welch came in and listened to his chest, he immediately starting talking about admitting him to the hospital. So after another breathing treatment in the office and several prescriptions, he let us come home under very strict orders. This morning the pediatrician has already called and checked on us, and Riley has improved some, so hopefully he will be better for Santa.

I hope and pray for safe travel for everyone who is traveling this holiday season, whether it's just down the road or hours away. I want everyone to remember the families that have been affected by the tragedy just less than a 1/2 mile down the road from our house. So many families lost all their Christmas present or just the fact that they can't spend Christmas at home.

Everyone please remember the reason for the season!

TVA Mudslide!

I just wanted to let everybody know that we are ok, and weren't effected by the ashslide that happened this morning. Even though it is very close to our house. We have received several phone calls, text messages and even emails from friends and clients.

This is a sad situation being so close to Christmas. Just keep all the families affected today in our thoughts a prayers!

Here's the story!

KINGSTON, Tenn. (WVLT) -- As the sun came up in Roane County, the extent of the devastation of a sludge slide was evident after a dike broke, blanketing hundreds of acres around the TVA Kingston Steam plant with a mixture of ash and water that knocked at least one home into the middle of a nearby road just after midnight Monday morning.

There were no fatalities and no serious injuries, but at least three homes are unlivable just days before Christmas.

It's a huge mess that's going to take a long time to cleanup.

TVA engineers are inspecting the scene from on the ground from the air, and they're finding out that there's a lot of work to be done, and it won't be easy.

In some places, the sludge and debris was piled 20 feet high.

Officials now say 12 homes were damaged, including three that are uninhabitable because of major structural damage and mud.

Even a Norfolk Southern locomotive and engine got stuck on the tracks, but TVA CEO Tom Kilgore says that train was removed before noon Monday.

Roane County EMA director Howie Rose says, "At approximately 12:30 this morning we had a 9-1-1 reports of a mudslide in the Swan Pond and Swan Pond Circle area."

A dike had broken on an ash containment pond at the TVA Fossil Plant, also known as the TVA Steam Plant, in Kingston.

A wall of water and sludge from the 40-acre pond caused widespread damage for a half mile.

TVA spokesman Gil Francis says, "We've had about five inches of rain, and we think that perhaps the rain and the freezing temperatures may be a contributing factor to the ash pond slide."

Rescuers are thankful that a slide of this magnitude didn't take any lives, and there were only two minor injuries -- two people rescued from a home knocked off its foundation -- and they don't need to be hospitalized.

TVA engineers are trying to figure out what to do next.

TVA President and CEO Tom Kilgore says, "We're doing several things, establishing water sampling in the river so we know what's migrating downstream we know what's in that water, then we're looking to clean up the road."

Cleanup could take weeks or months.

The ash is a byproduct of burning coal, and it goes into these ponds when where it stays. The pond itself was about the size of 30 football fields.

TDEC is on the scene and we know the EPA was notified.

The fossil plant has remained operational throughout this, but they only have about 50 to 60 days worth of coal on hand, and the train tracks used to bring the plant's fuel is covered in sludge. That means the plant will have to stretch their supply of coal to make it last, Kilgore says.

Santa 2008!

Well again this year we were unable to get a picture of both the boys with Santa, but at least we got one of Riley and Santa. Hayden wouldn't even go near him, he just yelled from the corner to tell Santa what he wanted. He did get close enough to him to get a cookie. So maybe next year we can have a picture of both of them on his lap...LOL!

After we left Santa's shop we headed to Build-a-Bear to get Riley's monkey fixed and of course they had to get new ones!

Once we left there we made it to get our ornaments made. The boys picked their favorites again this year.

So today I finally got my tree and all my decorations done! I am so behind this year. I normally have it up around Thanksgiving but we have been SO busy lately. Tomorrow we are going to see Santa and have our yearly Christmas ornaments made! The boys placed every single ornament on the tree this year, so it is truly a work of art. If you notice at the bottom there is just one single string of silver star garland. Riley told me that a Christmas tree isn't a Christmas tree without some tinsel! LOL! He also made me take my bows and ribbons off cause he said that a star has to be on the top of the Christmas tree not some silly bow!

The Braves celebrated their season today with a party at the bowling alley with pizza and cupcakes. Riley is actually a pretty good bowler considering this was his first attempt. He got several spares!

Today Emma celebrated her 3rd birthday. I have been so busy at work, I already had clients scheduled that night till about 10 and Craig was still at work,so Kristin picked the boys up and took them.

Thanks Kristin! That really meant a lot to Craig and I, as everybody knows our kids come first, and it means a lot to us when our friends understand that and offer to help! Especially those of you that don't have kids, it's a totally different world. The small things are what counts!

So today the boys attended their first Christmas parade. Technically Riley went when he was a little baby but doesn't remember. Last year we got them ready to go and they both fell asleep. Needless to say, they LOVED it. Thanks Levi and Brandy for letting us hang out at your office, so we didn't freeze to death!

This past Saturday I did a photo shoot for Shara and her family. Since we had yucky weather, she decorated a festive scene in the gym of the church. I took advantage of the opportunity and threw the boys in for their fall pictures. Hayden wasn't happy about the idea of having his picture taken. So this year, like every year, we had our normal route. We start at Nana and Papaws, then we go to Uncle R.C. & Aunt Carolyn, then to James, Joann and Granny Nelsons, then we end up at Trunk or Treat at South Harriman Baptist Church. Then on our way home we stop at Uncle Steve and Aunt Sandra's house. The boys just love going around getting all kinds of yummy candy. Which luckily, they don't even touch once we get home. This year the boys wanted to be firefighters. Sound easy huh! Well just my luck, we searched everywhere for costumes. So finally I had to order them off the internet, which actually works out better, because the costume was real cover alls and jackets. So now they can be firefighters all year!

Finally Cruise Pictures!

Sorry, I have delayed so long on this post but things have been crazier than normal around here. I have been working 12+ hours a day, then our softball, Riley's baseball and soccer, my photography business picking up and then all the weddings, parties and all the other events that we have attended, I just haven't had the time to sit down and work on all these pics. I took all the memory cards from all the girls camera's and made one big folder with everyone pictures. Which was a GREAT idea, so we got so many pictures you never knew was ever taken. So I did that as soon as we got back but haven't had the time to sort them out and pick out my favorites to make a slideshow. So last week I hooked up Wi-fi at our shop, YAY! the only salon in Roane County with free Wi-Fi, look at how much we love our clients. Anyways, with me having internet access, I have been bringing in laptop and working on them between clients. So finally I have a slideshow.

We had a wonderful time. Most the girls from our salon, Mary,Kristin, Heather, myself, Brandi and April (owner of J Lynn's Salon) signed up for this cruise several months back. White Sands was having a hair show on the cruise, so we spent 6 days away from our family! (It was hard being away from my boys (yes all 3 of them :)) for so long but I did get a break, more than my one night a week Girls Night Out. Thanks Nana for helping Craig with the boys.

The take off from the Cincinnati airport was HORRIBLE, we got grounded on the runway for 2 hours because we had 70 mph winds. California was beautiful, we stayed in Long Beach the day before our cruise departed. The cruise was amazing! It was so fun, I want to go again now. The food was delicious. We ported and toured Catalina Island, Baja, and Ensenada Mexico. We learned several new hair cut technique from the White Sands instructors, which is a great hair product. Unique Connections and J Lynn's are the only salons in the area that sells it. I bought the new razor scissors, which I just LOVE! Then we toured LA in a black limousine. The driver was crazy, but we got to see all of downtown LA. We stayed our last night at Marina Del Ray, which was really nice. Our last night we went down to Santa Monica Pier and done some shopping. Funny story, 6 hairdressers can pile up in one cab! The cab driver thought we were crazy, well we are, but it was hilarious. Heather, Me, Brandi and Mary sat in the backseat with April laying across us and Kristin rode in the front seat. I tried to take a picture, but we were all laughing so hard this is what I got.
So we finally made it down to 3rd Avenue for more shopping. Thanks God we made friends with the cops on the Pier. We were hoping to see some famous people, but we did run into Lil Bow Wow at LAX. The flights home were very calm and relaxing, until we were loading our plane in Atlanta and looked over and seen our luggage sitting beside us. So we ask our flight attendant, and she told us that we were mistaken that out luggage was under the plane. Well guess what wasn't in Knoxville, our luggage. So Delta had our luggage delivered to us the next day, except for Brandi and hers didn't get delivered to her (in Atlanta, that is were she lives) until the middle of the next week. I was so happy to see my guys standing at the gate waiting on me. I am one of the luckiest woman in the world, my family means SO much to me, I am truly blessed!

Circus Fun!

Sunday morning we loaded up and headed to Knoxville to the Shiner's Circus. This was the first time either of the boys had been to a circus, plus I hadn't been since I was really small. Riley had talked about going to the circus for a while now and when I told him that we had tickets, he was so excited. Kristin, Josh and Emma met us there to join in on all the fun. As soon as we got there, Hayden said he wanted to ride the elephant, so I asked Riley if he wanted to and he said "no way". So we went to purchase an elephant drivers license for Hayden. We waited in the line and when it was our turn to ride, Hayden decided he didn't want to. Imagine that! So then I asked him what he wanted to do next, he said that he wanted to ride the ponies, so we went and exchanged our elephant drivers license for a pony drivers license. So Hayden and Emma both rode the ponies. Next they all jumped in the tiger balloon. Then we all took a seat for the show. Riley was literally on the edge of his seat the whole entire show. Of course, we bought coloring books, light savers, hot dogs, popcorn and balloons. When the show was over, Riley cried because we were leaving and Craig had to explain to him that the show was done. He assumed that we were leaving early.

Riley's favorite part was the motorcycles, so was Dad's! Hayden said his favorite was the go-carts or the 4-wheelers. He told me that he wanted a big go-cart for his birthday!

Jennifer's Wedding

So Saturday we attended Jennifer's wedding. Jennifer is Sonya (my sis') best friend. So we packed up and headed to Clinton. It was a beautiful wedding. The boys did get into trouble because the staff didn't want you to throw the rocks into the creek, who knows, but they got in trouble.

Hayden's Surgery

This morning Hayden had an upper EGD performed. He is now acting like nothing even happened. He did just get up from an extremely long nap. Dr. Cleavus said that his esophagus and stomach looked great, no signs of acid reflux. She did tell us that his test results came back positive for the cow's milk, peanuts, corn and wheat allergies. Which basically includes everything you could possible eat. As most everybody knows when Hayden was about 6 mths old we found out that he was highly allergic to milk, and eventually out grew it by the time he was 1 1/2. He loves milk and drinks tons of it daily, So Craig and I both didn't know how to react to the news, and the DR. was of no help, she just told us to come back in two weeks for his biopsy reports. Needless to say, we are not impressed with this dr! So as on our way home, I call Dr. Schlactus, Hayden's allergist, and told the nurses what we had been told, so we have to be in his office, first thing in the morning.

The surgery went well. While we were talking to the anesthesiologist before surgery, we told her about how Hayden reacted when he woke up from his surgery for his tubes. She told us that the happy juice that they give them to calm them down so they don't freak out when they leave us on the way to the operating room, sometimes would cause the wake up reactions alot worse. So we decided not to give him the happy juice. So I was afraid that he would cry when we had to leave, and he didn't even get a little upset, the anesthesiologist even came into the waiting room to tell us how well he was acting after he left us, not even a watery eye. Sure enough, when they wheeled him back to this room, he was calm and quiet, unlike all the other kids we had been hearing all morning. He is such a trooper! He was asking the nurse to take out his boo-boo cause he wanted to go home, he was ready. So we still don't know why he is having the spells that he has been having, I just hope that we find out soon.

We want everybody to pray for my lil Hayden. He has his surgery in the morning. We have to be a Children's Hospital at 7:15 for admitting. So hopefully he will still be asleep, cause he can't eat or drink ANYTHING after midnight tonight. Let's just pray that everything goes well and good news as a result!

Riley's First Baseball Game!

Well, last night Riley had his first baseball game. I hate to admit it but my camera was dead, I was able to get it turned on to take a couple pictures. I was actually on my way to Children's Hospital to take Hayden to the dr, when I found out, the Coach had tried to contact us, but with me being out of town and Craig's work schedule, Riley had missed practice on Thursday, so it was our fault not the coach's. Riley does really well, for his age, I am not saying that he does great, because he does pick flowers and play with the grass but he just turned 4 at the end of June, so he does great!

With Riley's birthday being at the end of June, we knew that he couldn't start baseball this past spring or summer so we decided to sign him up for soccer since it starts in the fall. So we took him, signed him up and got his jersey. He had mixed emotions from day one. One day he is all excited about it and the next he doesn't want to play. So about a week after soccer sign-ups, I read an ad in the RCN's announcing fall ball, so I called the number. That afternoon, we took Riley and filled out the papers. He had the same mixed emotions with baseball, too. So he is officially playing fall baseball and soccer. Here are some pictures from his practices.

Just to let everybody know that we made it home safely! We had a wonderful trip, with lots of stories and memories. Now all I need is a vacation to recover from my vacation...LOL! I'll post pictures soon, I am going to compile all 6 of our memory cards onto one disc for all of us, which I can imagine is going to be a lot! Well I hate to run but I have a busy day ahead of me.

This afternoon, I will be attending my great-nephew, Joshua Lucas Gibsons' funeral. My niece, Tabi went into preterm labor and had Joshua at only 24 weeks. Joshua Lucas was born Sunday, August 24 and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2008. Please pray for Tabi, Josh and the rest of the family in coping with this horrible tragedy.

Then I will head to Kingston, to our good friends, Ashley and Andre's for Tabatha's baby shower. Tabatha is expecting a baby boy in just about 4 1/2 week! The countdown is on.

So last night, we invited Shara, Jimmy, and Alisha over to our house to watch the game. Of course this always involves Craig cooking us lots of yummy food with the entertainment of the kids, what could be any better? Craig prepared homemade chicken quesadillas for an appetizer, then made steak kabobs and shrimp scampi with roasted potatoes, mac-n-cheese, and garlic bread. For dessert we ate a yellow cake with chocolate icing prepared entirely by Riley and Hayden, except for taking the cake in and out of the oven. Even thought we lost in overtime we still had lots of fun.

Vacation 2008

So we just got back on Wednesday from a much needed vacation. My sister Adrienne and her friend Brent tagged along for the ride. This was the boys first trip to the beach. Riley loved it and Hayden didn't like the sand sticking to his hands and feet..LOL! We headed to Charleston to stay a few nights and then we make it to our Resort in Myrtle Beach for the rest of the week. The Resort we stayed at was directly on the ocean and had a huge waterpark on the backside, plus several pools, which included the kiddy pool that was outside our building. The boys LOVED the kiddy pool.

The didn't really enjoy the long ride home, since it took us 2 hours longer than normal since it was pouring down rain the whole trip home. Other than camera problem that I had with both of my cameras, we had a GREAT time. Enjoy the slideshow!

This video still has been laughing my rear off, about the time that Craig and Riley came out fo the slide a lil girl walked right into them, she gave Craig a good pump knot on his head....LOL!

Our first scary trip to Children's ER!

Well yesterday was a very scary day for the Hurley family. To make an extremely long, detailed story short,we were in Knoxville at the DeRopp 25th Anniversary party, when Hayden started whining and saying that he wanted to go home. Then the whining turned into him gagging and telling us that his tongue was hurting. Within a few minutes his lips were white and lined blue, his eyes had huge dark circles around them and his whole body was limp. Now all this happened within 4 minutes. So Craig and I grabbed him up and ran to the van, by the time we got him to the van his color was starting to get a little better, but his lips were still blue. So we took off with flashers on, we were just off Alcoa Hwy, so we were minutes from Children's. So many thoughts and feelings were running through my head and my heart was pounding. Riley was scared to death, he didn't understand what was going on. I pulled up to the ER doors and Craig went running in with Hayden and I parked the van. So then I tried to explain to Riley what was going on so he wouldn't be so scared, then I realized I better call my Mom and let her know what was going on. So after 6 hours waiting and several tests later we were discharged home. Dr. Campbell told us that all his test results came back great. She said that Hayden likely had a vagal event, which caused his heart rate to drop due to the gagging he was doing, and that led to his syncopal episode.

Kingston vs. Harriman

Last night, we decided to go watch the Kingston vs. Harriman ball game . As everybody knows I am a Yellow Jacket at heart, but this year, I had to cheer for the Devils. Yes I said the Blue Devils, I always told Tyler I would remain a Yellow Jacket until he started high school, and then I would cheer for him! So Hayden and I met Craig at the field, of course Riley wanted to stay at Nana's! This was the first football game that we had taken Hayden to and he actually understood what was going on. At first he was scared of all the loud noises, buzzers, and other various sounds, but he loosened up quickly. I love going to this game every year because I run into people I hadn't seen since the last game. I have to admit that this was an intense game especially the last 2 minutes, Harriman was so close to beating us, but the Jackets won, 20-18!

Of course, Hayden ran into his girlfriends, Kendal and Bennet. Let me tell you Bennett is quiet the photographer! She took these next two on her own, plus several others...LOL!

Beach Shoot

I am very lucky that I was able to get these pictures, because as we were leaving Charleston headed to our resort in Myrtle Beach I got my "big camera" out, and was going to charge my battery that way when we got to the beach we could take family pics on the beach. Well, I decided for some reason to take some random pics on the way there, I put my lens on and snapped a shoot of the kids in the back, when I went to look at it on my display, only 1/4 of the picture was there, the other 3/4 was black! So I tried again and again and again and it never got better, so I changed lens, still no luck! So I am freaking out......I know that my camera is about 3 years old and I was planning on upgrading to a 5D after my cruise, but I am on vacation without it. So as soon as we got to Myrtle Beach I searched for a camera repair store, knowing that I would have to send it off, I was hoping that I could get someone to look at it and if it was minor then they could repair it. There was only one store that told me to come in and one of their guys would look at it for me. So I left Craig and the boys at the beach and I took off. Once I arrived, they looked at it and told me that my mirror was getting stuck, and they tried a few trick and couldn't fix it. So once I got back to the resort I played around with it hoping I could get it to work, and for some reason I held it upside down and it worked!!!! I was so excited but it would only work in manual mode, which is fine for me because that is how I always shoot, but my sister was the one going to be taking our family pictures. So I tried to train her in the hours prior to the shoot, and I have to say, she done very well. Even though she looked retarded on the beach taking pictures with the camera upside down....but we all thought it was very comical! So needless to say, I have ordered my new camera just a little earlier than expected!

Happy 4th Anniversary!

Four year ago today I married the love of my life! WOW! So much has happened in those 4 years! We are truly blessed with our two handsome lil boys, the wonderful life we live, the amazing friends, some old and some new. It doesn't matter how long we have known you, you all have special places in our lives.

Craig, I know that we have came a long way since the first time our eyes met, and I know that we don't always have our date nights or cuddling time on the couch, but there's nothing in this world, bad or good, that I would rather experience with anyone else. So many wonderful things have happened to us in the past 4 amazing years. Our life is totally different today than when we started it a long 6 years ago. Those years have been everything I could ever asked for, if not more. I know that we have heard from numerous people that the first couple years is the hardest, well if that is true then we have it made! How could things get any better?

Honey, I love you so much and love you more everyday -- here's to the many more years of our wonderful life!

I really wasn't surprised when Bryan from Eddie's Body Shop called me this afternoon to tell me that the Jeep was a "complete loss". He told me that he just went outside and looked over it and got the verdict. He didn't really have to estimate a lot before it met the qualifing terms to be a total loss. Remember we just bought the Jeep at the end of March and put less than a 1,000 miles on it, actually we put 991 miles to be exact, but it was fun while we had it. So Jeep shopping we go again, this time we are going to go ahead and buy the 4-door unlimited!!!!!

Riley starts "His Kids"

Well, today was Riley's first day of "His Kids", a preschool program offered by Morrison Hill Christian Church. We have had mixed emotions from him since the first time we mentioned it. This morning when Dad woke him up, he was ready until he asked me when the bus was going to be here to pick him up. I explained to him that he didn't ride the bus that I would take him to school, and he got really upset. After we got him on the road, he was better. He kept on telling me that he didn't want to stay all day that he wanted me to come back in 20 minutes and pick him up...LOL! So we all (me, Dad and Hayden) arrived at the school and walked him into his classroom, once he seen all the other kids, he didn't even realize we weren't still there. So leaving him was harder on me than him, he just walked over gave us all hugs and kisses and said bye, and never looked back. Hayden loved walking in with his Bubba and he didn't throw a fit to leave either, which surprised me.

That pretty much sums it up. I woke up to my typical Sunday morning, Craig and the boys always stay quiet and let me sleep in on Sunday mornings. So when I woke up, I noticed it was too quiet, so I went outside and found the boys, they were doing "yard work". Then they asked me if I would go to Lowe's and buy a new nozzle for the waterhose cause they were going to wash the Jeep for our Sunday evening Jeep ride. I did as I was asked and headed to Lowe's. When I pulled back in the driveway, they were waiting with the waterhose in hand. I headed in the house to start lunch. Once the Jeep was finished, we had lunch. Immediately after Hayden finished his lunch he was ready for the Jeep ride, so I told him that once he took his nap we would go. Without hassle, he laid down and was snoozing within 20 minutes. Riley then decided that he needed to go to Nana's, for no apparent reason other than he wanted to, so Craig took him down and I finished downloading some songs to my Ipod for the trip. After Hayden's normal 3 hour nap, he immediately came to Craig and I and demanded that we get up and get in the Jeep. He NEVER forgets anything. So we all took bathes and got ready, diaper bag, camera, car seats and everything else we have to pack along with us. So we headed off, no plans other than a Jeep ride, we drove by the farm to see what was going on and then we headed to Kingston. We stopped at Rocky Top and got gas and a fuse for the cigarette lighter, that way I can play my Ipod in the Jeep. So while Dad was replacing the fuse Hayden said that he wanted to go to Ducklies (aka- this is what the boys call Lakeside Tavern), so we all decided that we would head to Calhoun's in Lenoir City, our normal Jeep rides go down Hwy 70. So that's where we headed just cruisin' along. We were not in Loudon County yet but past the New Midway Church sign and this maroon car comes around the curve completely on our side of the road and HITS us head on, I tried to get over as much as I could but he still hit us. It turned the Jeep around parallel in the road. I freaked out because all I heard was the boys SCREAMING, which is a mother's worse nightmare. I was trying to unbuckle and open my door all at the same time and it wasn't working, which I didn't know that my door was completely caved in on me, so I couldn't open it. So I immediately climb up in my seat and jump out the window. Craig jumps out and is yelling at the car coming at us, because we are just sitting in the middle of the road. Luckily she wasn't going fast so she was able to stop and the truck behind her was a Firefighter. The man and woman who was behind us came running and helped me get the boys out of their seats. I was so afraid that someone was going to hit us again with the boys still in there. Once I got the boys settled in the man and woman's truck I went to find Craig and check on him and that is when I seen the damage to the Jeep. OMG! the front drivers tire was completely off and laying under the driver's door. Pieces of the Jeep and his car were everywhere, not just directly around the Jeep. Then, what seemed like forever, the officers and emergency personal arrived. Once everyone started telling us that they couldn't believe that we were walking around, I guess then is when it all hit me, that we were very lucky!!!! For all those years working in the ER and seeing what normally comes out of wrecks like that, I just knew that God was watching over us. The man that hit us tried to leave the scene, but he busted his radiator so his car died just down the road. He was arrested for DUI and whatever else they end up charging him with. He wasn't drunk but he was definitely under the influence. He failed all his field sobriety tests. He told Trooper Brown that he would take a breathalyzer but refused the lab test, she told him of course you would! The boys were taken to Children's Hospital because Hayden was complaining with his belly hurting and after being advised after the impact we took, that to be safe we should have them checked out. The dr checked them out and sent us home with a clean bill of health. Craig and I are extremely sore this morning, he hit his knee on the dash board and the seat belt has me really sore, but we are being evaluated by our Family Physician this morning.

I would to thank everyone who stopped and checked on us and especially Mr. and Mrs. Mathis would stayed the whole time and keep up with the boys. I am sorry that I didn't get the names of everyone who stopped and offered to help, but we truly do appreciate your thoughtfulness. Thanks to our good friend Darrell Cook who came our as soon as I texted him..., Gloria Pickle who called 911, the fire fighter who stopped traffic for us, the tow truck driver who came upon the wreck and put the powder down on all our fluid that was coming out of the Jeep. Of course my Mom and Shara who didn't have a heart attack on the way to the scene, plus with the help at the hospital.

The scary part and I probably shouldn't think like this, but our accident was only a little ways down the road from where my Mom was killed in 1985. I truly believe that she was watching over us last night! Once again, I am very lucky.

So Tuesday night, after our ballgame, we were hanging out in the parking lot and talking. We always do this after every game, it gives us all time to settle down and also to catch up. The boys consider it their crazy time because we always let them run around and act like monkey's. Bob was playing with the boys and twirling them around and making them "drunk" and they all, including Bob, were having a blast. Until it was Hayden's turn and Bob twirled him around and then let him go, Yes, let him go, well as uncoordinated as Hayden is, he can barely walk on flat ground let alone being drunk, well he fell face first onto the pavement. I mean his head hit the pavement first, not his arms, legs or anything, but his head. I watched what seemed like slow motion as he went cheek first into the parking lot. Well once we all ran to his rescue, he cried about 45 seconds and was ready for bed. Of course I didn't let him. But in the end, he is fine. We did take him to the dr, especially after I found blood in his left ear!!!!!! But our pediatrician said that the impact caused his ear tube in his left ear to jar lose and fall out. So now we are just waiting on our ENT to decided what to do since he just had them put in on June 16. Bob, we still love you but Hayden says that he is still going to "beat your ass"...LOL! Thanks God our boys are Hurley tough, just like Daddy!

Billy's Graveside Service!

For those of you who don't know, Billy is a guy that graduated with Craig and was killed due to injuries in a coal mining accident. Hurley High School Reunion

Sorry guys, I know that I promised I would try to have this post on Tuesday, BUT, thanks to Comcast, my internet has been down until about 2 hours ago.

Well this past weekend we traveled to Craig's hometown, Hurley Virginia, for his High School Reunion. Plus, we got to spend with weekend with Mamaw and Papaw Hurley. The weekend started off with all the adults meeting at Hurley High on Friday night and then on Saturday everyone brought the kids and had a cookout at the local park. The boys just loved being outside at the park and with all the other kids. We had a blast, I really enjoyed meeting everyone Craig went to school with and Craig really enjoyed catching up with everybody. Stephanie asked me a couple of weeks ago if I cared to take some pics, and of course I said no, I would have anyways. So here is a slideshow of all the pics from the weekend. All I have to say is that I hope that my 10 year reunion, next year, is just half as fun as this one was. Stephanie done an awesome job on all the decorations, memory albums, food and every other little thing she done. Well after 3 long hours playing their lil hearts out, we loaded up and met Zach, Abby and Baby Landon at O'Charley's for dinner. Then another beautiful ride into the sunset!

So we are leaving on Friday morning for Hurley, VA for Craig's high school reunion and to visit Mamaw and Papaw Hurley! So I'll have more pictures to post once we get back home. Then it is only 22 days till we head to the beach and 45 days till I fly to LA for my cruise with the girls!

We will be having a HUGE 4 family yard sale at my brother's house, email me for directions, on Friday August 8 and Saturday August 9 from 9-?. I will have tons of baby boy clothes and shoes and all my maternity clothes, all still in great condition, somehow the whole tub was misplaced in the building but we found it this past weekend. Brandy will have lots of baby girl clothes, a lot of barely worn outfits and some that have never been worn. Plus the other typical yard sale stuff! If you are interested in looking at any of the stuff prior to the yard sale just let me know.

WARNING! Mother's Bragging Moment!

So this morning a lady from TEIS came out to the house to do a developmental evaluation on Hayden. Since I am concerned with his speech, they have to perform that whole evaluation they can't just do one area. This is a program offered by the State of Tennessee to all children who do or may have developmental delays, regardless of financial status. Since this program is offered by the State, our insurance required them to evaluate Hayden before we do private speech therapy. For the simply fact that if the State deems that he is delayed then they will pay 100%, which means our insurance would not have to pay. So she came this morning to do his evaluation, and guess what....he scored on the charts as high as a 4 1/2 year old would and he is only 2 1/2. He is very intelligent on all his motor skills. YAY!!! Well, while she was here and doing all the tests on Hayden, Riley wanted to join in, so she evaluated him, just for fun....and guess what, he tested as high as a 7 year old and he just turned 4! She kept on telling me how amazed she was at both of them!!!!!! Well needless to say Hayden doesn't qualify for the State program, which I knew from the beginning but finally we can get into a private dr. Hayden's speech is getting way better since the tubes but Momma is still worried and don't want him to be behind, but after today's evaluation I'm not worried! Congratulations Riley and Hayden, my smart lil boys!

Well another exciting moment in the Hurley house, Riley starts Parents Day Out! We get to meet with his new teacher and tour his school next Thursday morning.

Riley will also be signing up for AYSO soccer on August 12!

This weekend we will be attending Craig's high school reunion, but before we leave for Virginia on Friday I am going to try to post some new pics.

I know that almost every parent faces it, and as a hairdresser I see it a lot, but I stress to my kids "Momma is the only person who cuts your hair". Well, Riley decided that today he was going to cut his hair. Yes, while I was at the Dr's office with Hayden this afternoon I received the pix text.......I was stunned! I know that luckily we do have boys and it isn't as tragic as having a little girl mess up her hair. It was still heart shattering. Not only did Riley butcher up his hair, but he decided that Skyler needed hers trimmed too. Thank heavens that he only "trimmed her".....just a small spot right above her ear, which can be hidden very well. When I made it back to the van, I called Momma and she told me the story. I asked to speak to Riley, he actually got on the phone, so I asked him what he had been doing, his response was "nothing, Momma!". I ask him again, and stressed the fact that he wasn't doing anything, so he said "Well Momma, I was cutting my new paper and I hit a BIG bump, and can you believe that my scissors jumped right out of my hand and cut mine and Skyler's hair, and then jumped back into my fingers". That is word for word what he told me....I was more amazed with the story he told me than the fact of him actually cutting their hair! He later told me that he didn't want to look like a girl anymore, since Uncle RC calls him a girl all the time. Which we all know how Uncle RC is, he is always aggravating us. Well, all I have to say is that I have handled it very well, on the other hand, I don't know how Dad will react! I told him briefly on the phone earlier and he wasn't happy! Well, his exact words were.."Why did you let him do that and it so close to us leaving"..well first of all I didn't LET him do it and second of all he is referring to his High School reunion August 1 & 2. LOL.....I still haven't cut it, still trying to figure out my choices, if I actually pull the hair from the left side it covers it really well, so I think that I will just trim his front and wait a couple of weeks for it to grow back out! More pictures will follow when I decide on what I am going to do!

Family Photos!

So last Wednesday we headed out to Lindsay and Brian's beautiful farm to attempt family pictures. Well, now I remember why we don't have more family pictures. That afternoon about 3:30 when I called Mom to check on the boys, she told me that Hayden still had not had a nap, which is very unusual for him. He usually takes about a 3 hour nap around 1. So I told her to make him lay down. We should have know then, it wasn't going to be good. So when I got to Mom & Dad's to pick the boys up, Hayden was asleep so I brought them home and put Hayden back to bed to finish some of his nap. We let him sleep as long as we could then we got him up and put them in the tub, which I thought might make it easier. Well, guess what, he was still cranky! So we got them bathed, lotion on, hair brushed and dressed. So we headed down. About 1/2 way there we looked back and Riley was asleep. That should have been our clue, because my boys are very irritable when they get woke up from their naps. But we went on to Lindsay's , we were being very bold!!! When we got there, they were both amazed with all the new cool stuff they could play with, mowers, gators, tractors, cows, and horsesThey were in heaven until we tried to make them pose for pics.

Now you can get the picture! Well needless to say, Lindsay was still able to get some really good pictures of all 4 of us! Here are a few that I just love!
