Well yesterday Hayden had tympanostomy tube placement (ear tubes). We arrived at Children's West at 9, he wasn't very happy with us because we woke him up and he wanted to go back to bed. So the whole way to the hospital he didn't say a word and gave me and Mom mean evil looks, but once we arrived and he seen all the toys, he changed his mind. By 9:30 we were registered and called back to the pre-op room.
So after we went over his medical history and got his vitals, it was time for his "happy juice".
He was getting Doggy ready for bed.
He was fighting the happy juice, he kept trying to sit up and then he would just fall back over.
Finally we got him to lay down....the happy juice is working now.
He felt better when I laid down with him!
My precious lil angel...
Well the surgery was over in about 15 minutes and they called us back and we talked to the dr and he explained that everything went well and what to expect the next couple of day. So back to the lobby to wait again. Then the recovery nurse came and got us, as soon as she opened the door, I heard Hayden screaming uncontrollably....which is the worse feeling that a mother could have. Finally we made it to his room and he was going crazy, which is normal but still scares me to death, so I was crying and trying to calm him down. That lasted about 25 minutes and as soon as he drank some Sprite they let us sign out and go home. Well the dr and nurses told us that he would go home and take a long nap and then he would be back to normal, well Hayden wasn't. The dr called about 6:30 to check on him and I explained that he would sleep about 15 minutes and scream for about 30, and he had been doing that since we left the hospital. Well the dr advised us that every child is different and that he was having trouble "getting" over the anesthesia, and about 10:30 he finally stopped. So he only woke up about 4 times from 11 pm till about 7:30 this morning. So far, he is acting a lil more rowdy than usually and then he will sit for about 20-30 minutes and tell me that his ears are hurting and then get up. It has been an experience to remember!
